Electronic and Battery Recycling Drive

This year, the PMSS Green Team ran its third annual Electronics and Battery Recycling Drive in December. We accepted small and medium-sized electronics and batteries to encourage people to recycle them rather than dispose of them in the garbage. This year, in addition to classroom recycling bins, a large central receptacle was introduced in the library, greatly increasing the amount of electronics collected. In total, more than 8 small boxes of electronics and batteries were collected in addition to two large items. With the success of this event, we plan to hold another electronic drive this year as well as organizing a permanent station for recycling batteries and electronic waste.

Adopt-A-Trail

Since the 2016, the Port Moody Green Team has taken the responsibilty of maintaining the trails at Miller Park as part of the City of Coquitlam's Adopt-A-Trail program. This year, we carried on the mission of creating a clean and sustainable environment. Our members check the trails and creeks for any litter and debris and dispose of it responsibly, either in garbage or recycling bins.

Recycling System Improved Awareness

During 2019’s spring break, School District 43 will be implementing an improved 4-bin waste disposal system in our school to replace our older, less organized bins. The PMSS Green Team is responsible for creating a PSA-style video to inform our student body of the improvements coming to PMSS. We’re in the process of working on a mock infomercial-style PSA. Filming will commence and the coming weeks and the final product will be completed by the end of Spring Break.
